Route
430 is a paved 2 lane highway starting at Deer Lake on the Trans Canada Highway and stretching the length of the
Great Northern Peninsula 400km (240Miles). The southern part winds through the Gros Morne National Park. The central section of
the highway follows the coastal plateau bordered on one side by the Gulf of St.Lawrence/Strait of Belle Isle and
on the other by the Long Range Mountains. Along the way, you will pass through many of our small fishing and service
towns. The northern section crosses the tip of the peninsula over barrens and through forests, offering wildlife
and wilderness photo opportunities galore. The villages and towns of this area offer ocean excursions, sightseeing
trails and look-outs where one can see whales, birds, and icebergs.
