In the early 1960's the remains
of the Maritime Archaic Indians were found in the Port Au Choix
area. The remains were further examined in the 1990's and from
the findings an understanding of health, life expectancy, and life
style of the Maritime Archaic Indians.
The Maritime Archaic Indians were the earliest known people to live
in the Port au Choix area. From their remains, it has
been determined that they lived in this area from 3500 to 7000 years
ago. The distinctive lifestyle of these people are presently a
part of a National Historic Site in Port Au Choix. The town of
Port Au Choix is a 15 minute drive from Torrent River Inn.
