The
central region of The Viking Trail offers some of the best Salmon sport fishing in Newfoundland. Within a 120km
stretch of highway there are 7 scheduled rivers in which to wet your fly. They are: Portland Creek, River of Ponds,
Little Brook Pond, Torrent River, Big East River, Castors River and St. Genevieve.
The Torrent River Inn is located right in the middle of this great fishing, offering an ideal jumping off point
to any of these Rivers. All the waters are pristine with an abundance of fishing areas along its banks, providing
isolated spots to fish alone or with a friend.
For the Trout fisherperson, the inland waters of Hawkes Bay offers an extensive network of logging roads providing
access to countless trout streams and lakes, naturally stocked with Eastern Brook trout. It is not uncommon to
consistently hook 2-3 lb. brookies, an experience you'll never forget.
